Pozdrav Hrvatska!

The early bird catches the worm they say but luckily for me I had a chance to sleep in this morning since I had a terrible night behind me.

For some reason my allergies acted up again during the night, resulting in me lying awake for quite a long time, but as the sun came up, it was nice to close my eyes again for just a little while longer and I must admit that I woke up again when my alarm clock went off at about 9 am.

A quick shower and a delicious breakfast later, I was ready to pack my bags and do the immensly long walk of 500 meters to the airport. Even walking backwards it would take me about 5 minutes! This 1 week holiday was going to be a blast, I am sure of it!

Since I checked in last night by phone, I only had to drop off my luggage and off I went on the look for the many shops of which Rotterdam airport I surprisingly noticed had ample of. It is just that small and I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed, but hey, I had to go with the flow. Having a drink while making use of the free wifi made time pass by quickly and boarding was of course, a piece of cake. Sometimes leaving from a super tiny airport is a bliss, things progress only in the right way so it seems.

Once airborne, I started to listen to some music and quickly dozed off. It seemed I still needed some much needed catch up sleep and I woke up again when they announced that we were going to land. That was one hell of a quick flight if you asked me and I just needed to fill in my PLF form and I was good to go and see the country.

Earlier on, during the landing, we saw Pula and it looked more than interesting to me, so I was more than eager to enter the country.

As soon as we landed, I discovered that this airport was even smaller than Rotterdam/the Hague airport, if this was even possible. It was just that mindblowing! With only one conveyer belt of the two working, it wasn't that hard to look for my luggage and as mine arrived very quickly, I was one of the first ones ready to go and meet up with our group.

Since I was on my own, this was the cheapest way to travel and I soon saw the other faces of our whopping group of 25, going from the youngest being 10 and the oldest about 80 something. Talking about variety of ages! I was wondering how this was going to be like as the week was going to progress, but to be honest, I didn't mind too much, my holiday had started and for the first time in years I felt great again! This was the life I had been missing for the past couple of years.

Arriving in Pula at 3pm in the afternoon, the weather on the ground had changed from sunny into cloudy and even worse, so instead of checking out the city in the rain, our tourleader Paul decided we drove further towards Rabaç, our home for the night.

This little sleepy harbor village wasn't any better weatherwise. Dark clouds were hanging over the hotel as we checked into our rooms and although it didn't look all that promising, I still went ahead and took the opportunity to go for a little walk towards the harbor where the colors of the water were still amazing despite the weather. Since we arrived about a week or two before the tourist season, it was very quiet and not that many people were out and about. The rain which arrived a bit later, didn't help as well and I hurried back to the hotel. It was kind of sad, because even in bad weather conditions the little harbor had its charm with all the old houses surrounding the water, but since I wasn't all that waterproof, I decided to have a drink in the bar instead where I met up with some fellow travellers.

A few drinks and a diner later and I was well on the way to have new friends during this week, so I was more than eager to look forward to seeing the country, but with much better weather than today! A woman can only hope of course!
